Models & groups

Three linked concepts: a key belongs to a group, the group decides models and ratios, the model ID picks the model.

• Group: chosen at key creation; decides which models the key can call and at what ratio. Tell two permission errors apart: the token has no access to the model → 403 (check the token's model allow-list / permissions); the chosen group has no available channel for the model → 503 / no available channel (switch to a group that includes the model, or confirm it has an available channel in the current group)
• Model ID: must match the site exactly (case and suffix). Copy from the recommended models table or /v1/models
• Protocol endpoint: one model may serve several protocols (Chat / Responses / Messages) — see the live table below
